SOLAR POWER PLANT

Solar power plant uses a process where the solar energy is converted into electricity either using photovoltaic technology (PVT) directly or using concentrated solar power (CSP) indirectly. Photovoltaic technology is used to convert the focused beam of sunlight into electric current using the photo voltaic effect.

Solar Power Plants are of two types:

On-Grid / Grid –Tied: The user uses both solar energy as well as electricity from the grid. On-Grid Systems are solar photovoltaic systems that only generate power when the utility power grid is available. They can send excess power generated back to the grid when you are overproducing so you credit it for later use.
Off-Grid / Standalone: These systems allow you to store your solar power in batteries for use when the power grid goes down or if you are not on the grid. Hybrid systems provide power to offset the grid power whenever the sun is shining and will even send excess power to the grid for credit for later use.

SOLAR WATER HEATER

With the help of solar thermal collector, sunlight is converted into heat which is later used for water heating . A variety of configurations are available at varying cost to provide solutions in different climates and latitudes and are widely used for residential and some industrial applications.
There are two types of solar water heating systems: active, which have circulating pumps and controls, and passive, which don't. SWH are active (pumped) and passive (convection-driven). They use water only, or both water and a working fluid. They are heated directly or via light-concentrating mirrors. In large-scale installations, mirrors may concentrate sunlight onto a smaller collector.

SOLAR WATER PUMP

A solar-powered pump is a machine running on electricity generated by photo voltaic panels or the thermal energy available from collected sunlight. These are more efficient as compared to the pumps which run grid electricity or diesel. Solar pumps are useful where grid electricity is unavailable and alternative sources for example wind does not provide sufficient energy.

SOLAR STREET LIGHT

Solar street lights are raised light sources which are powered by photovoltaic panels generally mounted on the top of the pole facing the sun. The photovoltaic panels charge a rechargeable battery, which powers a fluorescent or LED lamp during the night. Solar street lights are designed to work throughout the night. Many can stay lit for more than one night if the sun is not available for a couple of days.
Solar street lights are independent of the utility grid. Hence, the operation costs are minimized. The lights require much less maintenance compared to conventional street lights. And since external wires are eliminated, risk of accidents is minimized. This is a non polluting source of electricity. Also the separate parts of solar system can be easily carried to the remote areas.
